The ninth annual Granfondo Garneau-Québecor présenté par Cascades, co-chaired by father Pierre Harvey and son, Alex Harvey, Olympic athletes was held on August 13, 2017. More than 2,000 cyclists from all walks of life rode the 118 kilometres between Trois-Rivières and Saint-Augustin-de-Desmaures, just outside Quebec City. For the first time, a Minifondo (20 km) was organised to reach out to a broad variety of cyclists to alleviate senior isolation. Since the Granfondo event was founded in 2009 by Louis Garneau Sports, it has raised over $470,000 for the East of Quebec chapters of Little Brothers.
Growing the Little Brothers family in the Quebec City area
“The funds raised by the event will help with the maintenance costs of the Lac Saint-Joseph vacation lodge and with our outreach efforts in Quebec City and the surrounding area. This will make it possible for us to connect with more lonely seniors in this part of the province and welcome them into our ‘forever family,’” said Caroline Sauriol, Executive Director of Little Brothers.
Little Brothers would like to thank everyone at Louis Garneau Sports, our volunteer crew over a hundred strong and everyone who came out with their bicycles and their smiles – your involvement was vital in making the event a resounding success. We are also deeply grateful to Mr. Hinault for his valued contributions.
